I am starting to solidify my process and techniques the more I go through this project. I have used a masking tape roll lined with a plastic bag to create a mould to pour plaster into, creating the base. Working in two layers to make sure the wire stays in place and can be manipulated how I see fit.
Yet this is still not the look I am satisfied with. I feel the arms are too rigid and the body is too elongated to be proportionate with all of its features. I still need to work on this more and how to adapt the pieces to be more secure and add movement into elements such as the arms and back area.
I have titled this ‘The Petrified’ as this fits into my theme really well. There is a sense of being stuck in place, too scared to move, too scared to be seen. A sense of standing still to make sure we are not seen by everyone around us and the fear of being observed has made them almost frozen in time and space. Again the use of the colour is to completely argue against the meaning behind the sculpture and use a light, cheery colour to catch the viewers attention, and ensure they look for a longer period of time and look deeper into the reasonings.
